Happy Memorial Day and The Pungo Strawberry Festival

Happy Memorial Day! Please take a moment and remember those that have served this country, and some given lives, so that we can all be free to live the way we want.
~~~
Every Memorial Day weekend The Pungo Strawberry Festival is held in the rural part of Virginia Beach. It's a family-oriented, alcohol-free event and a good time is always had by all.
Strawberries fields forever...hey, wait! Isn't that a Beatles song?(!)
Lots o' yummy food...
I love this roasted corn!
Fred Flintstone would love this pterodactyl-sized turkey leg.
My son, drinking a slushy strawberry drink...
Pork smoking on a grill to later be made into BBQ...
Various bands played throughout the day...
There were lots of craft booths...
I loved this hot pink dragonfly shirt!
Dancers, and a guy dressed as the devil, kicking up their heels to "The Devil Went Down to Georgia."
The girls giving the devil a run for his money...
Beautiful older home right smack-dab in the middle of everything...
Hubby said these were puggies...er, piggies! If you've ever had a pug...er, been owned by one...you know that they are highly motivated by food, and spend a lot of their time rooting around like pigs!
Sweet little bunny...
Chickens...and they were free! We kinda wanted to bring one home with us, but I don't think Lucy would enjoy sharing her backyard with a chicken.
There was also a petting zoo and pony rides...
Since such a large part of our "industry" here is the military or military-related defense contracting, the military always set up an exhibit at the festival.
There were carnival rides and games...
We bought some yummy dip mix and lavender jelly from this booth on our way out...
