The theme this week is trainwrecks. I don't have any pictures, because I wasn't blogging yet when this happened, but I wanted to share what happened last September when I tried to make Mr. Maison a birthday cake.
His favorite cake is angel food, so I attempted to make one just as I've done many times before. Partway through the baking process, I popped open the oven door to give it a check and it had exploded up over the sides of the pan and was all over the oven (much like Gollum's tart that cooked over a while back). Needless to say, poor Mr. Maison ended up with a store-bought cake.
awww..but it was the thought that counted! Happy Foodie Friday! Have a great weekend ~ Susan
ReplyDeleteLOL! I had to make gingerbread once that oozed over the sides like molten lava. I feel your pain. ;-)
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
I hope he licked the bowl at least:)
ReplyDeleteOh, darlin' girl...been there..done that. hahaha
ReplyDeleteBet your honey loved his special cake anyway, even a store bought Angel Food is delicious.
oh yes...I've done this one. No one ever told me and I didn't bother reading that they can blow up and grow out of control in the oven.
ReplyDeleteThis has happened to me with a pie I made. I used a regular frozen pie shell and I needed a deep dish (which the recipe DID NOT state). What a mess.
ReplyDeletehmmmm - have you ever made it again?! Sometimes it's just easier to buy it than make it!

Oh yeah, that's a fun mess to clean up - as Gollum will attest to. I've made the angel food and had it stick in the pan....Robyn
ReplyDeleteBummer. Too bad, homemade angle food is the best!
ReplyDeleteWhat a mess! Better you than me! *grins* Happy Foodie Friday!
ReplyDeleteoh dear, I remember when that happened to Gollum. it was a big clean up, I hope Mr Maison ate his cake and gave you a hand, happy weekend, Kathy.
