Tablescape Thursday

Since I just got back late last night from a spring break trip with my family (and my Target birds!), I wasn't able to pull together a tablescape this week. I did want to post a couple of pictures from Southern Lady magazine. I recently discovered this magazine and there are lots of pretty tablescapes to be found in it.

This first tablescape from the magazine was featured in Kimberly Schlegel Whitman's book Tablescapes. I highly recommend the book. There are lots of drool-worthy pictures. Seeing this picture reminds me of how much I love Jadeite and need to start a collection soon.

Target Birds on Holiday...Cincinnati Style

When Susan at Between Naps on the Porch alerted everyone that the Target bird salt and pepper shakers seemed to be flying the coop all over blogland, I figured I’d better check on my little pair. Well, when I went to their usual nesting spot beside their little blue friends, this is what I saw:

As we were getting ready to go away for spring break, I didn’t have time to look for them further, and just hoped for the best, that they would return safely home.

On Thursday afternoon, we loaded up the car, kids and Lucy and prepared to head toward Cincinnati. Right as we got on the interstate, I could hear the rustle of feathers and muffled chirping. It seemed to be coming from the glove box, so I opened it and this is what I saw:

The rascally little devils heard us talking about going away for spring break, and decided to stow along with us! Well, there was no turning back, so we decided to press on.

Over the next five days, my little birdies traveled from Virginia, through West Virginia, into Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. They heard us talking about all of our favorite Cincinnati restaurants, and said they would like to tag along since we were fresh out of worms for them. Here are some of the places they went:

I'm new to blogging, and this is my first Pink Saturday. I'm posting a picture of my daughter's well-worn pointe shoes. When I told Ballerina Maison that I was going to save these to show her daughter someday, if she has one, she said, "What are you trying to do? Scare her off from dance?" I said, "No. I just want to show her how hard her mama danced back in the day."

Tablescape Thursday...An Easter Brunch

I've set the table for an Easter brunch, even though you can see it's dark outside! I threw this together tonight as we are leaving tomorrow for a spring break visit with our families. I've used a lot of my Bordallo bunny and carrot plates for this tablescape.

Mr. Bunny stands watch in my dining room all year long and not just at Easter. I love him so much, I can't pack him away!

The Pier One bunny-on-a-stick hopped over to join the fun.

Foodie Friday

For dinner tonight we started out with a salad of field greens, purple onion, strawberries, sliced almonds, gorgonzola and red wine vinagrette.



I also made some homemade chicken noodle soup with leftover roasted chicken from earlier in the week. I love these noodles that my sister-in-law Donna brings me from Indiana.
