Outdoor Wednesday...Fairies!

Welcome to Outdoor Wednesday, hosted Susan at A Southern Daydreamer!

I had some very special guest photographers this week. While I couldn't snap their picture, here are some shots they took on their way home one summer's evening...

Can You Hear

Poem by Barbara Zimmerman

Can you hear snowflakes fall amid the frosty eve? Or hear dandelions float by on a summer breeze? Do you hear Milkweeds pop to send their seeds astray? Or see maple seeds twirling away?

Ahhhh, to taste nectar from wild Honeysuckles under a morning sky To watch floating leaves cascade down a mountain stream. Can you see fairies, nymphs or tiny elves, Sheltered in wooded glens? Waiting to see are you foe or friend.
Did you see them dance and sing as stars came out to shine? Their wings softly catching moonbeams As shards of color sparkled in your dream .
very carefully and you may hear, echoes of laughter in the glen Or see dancing fireflies just around the bend.

A while back I heard about fairy doors and just knew I had to have one so that I could invite the wee ones in. I also have a fairy lamp to light their way. Wee folk are very illusive, so I've yet to see one, but I left my camera out on the front porch one evening and mysteriously these pictures showed up.
It seems that fairy doors have cropped up all over Ann Arbor, Michigan. You can read about them HERE.

  2. Fairies live in the garden at Linderhof -- we've built a house for them - and sometimes, just sometimes you can see them.

    Cute post!

  3. How beautiful. And yes, I believe there is a family of fairies living behind that red door.
